The Nike ZoomX Vista Grind Will Make Men Want To Start Wearing Women's Shoes
Nike is no stranger to using sports as a way to promote equality in numerous forms, whether it’s about gender, race, or sexual orientation. In September, the brand revealed it’s “Dream Crazy” campaign narrated by Colin Kaepernick that featured the memorable line, “Believe in something, even if it means sacrificing everything.” Nike followed up with it’s “Dream Crazier” campaign in March, which was released to coincide with International Women’s Day, and highlighted the hypocrisy in the way that women are treated in sports.
While Nike ads have always sparked conversation, what Nike does best is make shoes. And their products are one of the most effective ways that the brand is promoting equality. By designing sneakers specifically for women, and eschewing the “pink it and shrink it” philosophy that used to hold sway in product design for women, Nike is leveling the playing field. What’s more, they aren’t just creating sneakers that women love, they are also creating styles that men are going to covet. Case in point: the new Nike ZoomX Vista Grind.
Nike recently revealed its lineup of women’s specific styles for summer and the ZoomX Vista Grind was the standout of the collection. It does the chunky shoe trend right. Instead of becoming a lampoon, like the Balenciaga Triple S, the Zoom X Vista Grind has an elevated and exaggerated midsole but the proportions of the overall shoe still feel balanced.
The Nike ZoomX Vista Grind will release in Summer 2019. The price of the women’s shoe is not yet available.
