Jamaican Surfer Shama Beckford's New Edit Is Pure Vibes

There is just something special about the rhythm of Jamaican patois. The way that certain syllables are abbreviated while others are elongated has a flow that I find incredibly melodic. In addition to the enthralling plot and rich characters, I found the patois to be one of the most enjoyable parts of Marlon James 704-page epic A Brief History of Seven Killings. The vocal rise and fall offer a similar bonus in the new edit from Jamaican surfer Shama Beckford. Beckford, appropriately titled “Shama.” In addition to the amazing footage of the goofy-footed Shama ripping the top off of waves in Jamaica with a lanky, languid style, there are interviews from friends and family members talking about how he is putting on for his home country, all with that pleasing lilt.
