A 2-Minute Meditation on Surf With Trevor Gordon

It’s hard to pinpoint the Goldilocks length of a web surf clip. I’m sure there are all kinds of agencies that will—for the low, low price of $20,000—spout out data points in well-designed decks that finish with a “Key Takeaways” slide that says something along the lines of “Analytics suggest that the optimized length of a clip is 247 seconds.” This will be done in a manner that comes across as authoritative while also allowing the agency to completely absolve itself of any responsibility should 247 second-videos not yield the desired KPIs.

Regardless, the 113-second “Boo Blapp Bleep” from the good folks at Mollusk Surf Shop seems to hit a sweet spot. You can complete it in one sitting without being distracted by one of your 12 other open browser tabs or being racked with guilt about the work that you aren’t doing. Oh yeah, it also features the ridiculously stylish surfing of Trevor Gordon. Filmed in gooey, grainy goodness and set against a meditative track from Farmer Dave Scher, Gordon slips and slides gracefully across a diverse array of waves on a diverse array of boards.

As the clip trails off we hear someone say, “Aww, Trevor just got a pretty good one.” It’s hard to disagree.
